    Introducing Formzed MCP

Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other AI apps to your forms, responses and research interviews, and let them draft forms and studies for you.

    Formzed team

    formzed.com

Formzed now has an MCP server. Connect it to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or another AI app, and you can ask about your forms, responses and AI Research interviews in the chat you already use. If you allow it, the app can also create forms and studies as drafts, and publish a form when you say so.

    What MCP is

MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is an open standard for connecting AI apps to other services. Anthropic first published it, and Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code and many other apps now support it. An app that speaks MCP can call another service's tools in the middle of a conversation, with the permissions you gave it.

Formzed's server lives at https://api.formzed.com/mcp. You add that address to your AI app once and sign in with your Formzed account. From then on, when you ask about your forms or studies, the app calls Formzed's tools to get the answer.

    What you can ask

Anything your forms and studies can answer. A few examples:

    • Which of my forms got the most responses this week?
    • Summarize the answers to “What should we change?” in the October event survey.
    • In the churn study, how many people mentioned pricing, and what did they say?
    • Show me the full interview with respondent 12.
    • Make a feedback form for our October meetup: name, overall rating, best talk, what to change, would you come again, and an email for the slides.
    • Draft a study to find out why trial users don't upgrade.

    The 13 tools

The server has 13 tools. Your AI app picks the right ones for each question; you don't have to name them. None of them deletes anything.

    • AI Research: list_studies, get_study, get_study_report, list_interviews and get_interview read your studies, their reports and the full interview transcripts.
    • Forms: list_forms, get_form and list_responses read your forms and their responses, up to 200 responses a page with every answer included.
    • Changes: create_form, update_form, duplicate_form and create_study make drafts, and publish_form makes a form live. These only appear if you allow changes.

Counts that come from the report

Ask how many people said something in a study and the app gets the number from get_study_report. That report's theme counts were checked against each person's own words, and its MaxDiff and concept-test results were counted in code. The app is told to quote those numbers as they are instead of counting transcripts itself, and to say when the newest interviews aren't in the report yet.

Respondents appear by number only, and the contact details they typed are removed. Whatever they wrote is handed to the app as data, with an instruction never to treat it as instructions.

When your AI app tells you how many people said something, the number comes from Formzed's checked report.

You decide what it can do

Connecting opens a Sign in with Formzed page. There you choose what the app may do. Leave Make changes unticked and it can only read. Tick it and it can also create drafts, edit form drafts and publish forms.

New forms and studies start as drafts. A form takes responses only after publish_form, and the app is told to check with you before it calls it. For anything the tools don't cover, such as design, logic and payments, the app gives you a link to the form in the Formzed builder.

    • Access lasts an hour at a time and renews itself. If the app goes unused for 30 days, it has to sign in again.
    • To cut an app off, open Dashboard, API, Connected apps and click Disconnect. Its access stops at once.
    • Prefer an API key? Make one in Dashboard, API with only the permissions you want to share, and send it as a header. The app gets that key's permissions, IP allowlist and limits.

    Set it up in Claude

In claude.ai, or the Claude desktop app, which uses the same list:

    1. 1Open Settings, then Connectors.
    2. 2Click Add custom connector, name it Formzed and paste https://api.formzed.com/mcp.
    3. 3Click Connect, sign in with Formzed, tick what Claude may do and click Allow access.

    Other AI apps

ChatGPT, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and VS Code connect with the same address. In Claude Code, for example, one command adds it: claude mcp add --transport http formzed https://api.formzed.com/mcp. Then run /mcp and sign in. On some ChatGPT plans only the read tools can be used.

The MCP page has the steps for each app, including the exact lines for Cursor's and VS Code's mcp.json.

    Plans and usage

Formzed MCP comes with every paid Formzed plan. Each tool call counts as one API request from your plan's monthly allowance, the same as a call to the REST API, and it's logged like one.

Reading, and making or publishing forms, doesn't use AI credits. Research credits are used only when you ask create_study to draft the interview guide itself. Your AI app's own usage is billed by that app.

You can now ask about your forms, responses and interviews from the AI chat you already use, instead of opening Formzed to look. The steps for each app are on the MCP page. Tell us what you'd like your AI app to do with Formzed next.
